The Flag Company Inc And Case Of The U.S. Flagpole Lightings

By Frank Long

On Flag Day in 1923, a group of organizations headed by the American Legion outlined the National Flag Code as a set of advisory rules for displaying the flag. These rules became law during World War II and form the bulk of what's now the United States Flag Code.

Most people believe you are not allowed to fly the stars and stripes at night. However, this is only partly true. According to the US Flag Code, all American flags should be displayed from sunrise to sunset every day. Lowering the flag at night is an ultimate sign of respect for Old Glory.

Many property owners wonder if there is a better, and less costly, method for illuminating their flag pole after dark, and the answer is a resounding “yes”. Thanks to the flag company inc, there are an amazing number of options in solar lighting. There are even many solar lighting fixtures specifically designed for the illumination of flag poles or exterior scenes throughout the evening hours.

During July 4th and other National holidays, many people display the American Flag outside their homes in honor of the holiday. The flag symbolizes and unifies us as a nation, and displaying it where we live is a way of commemorating both the birth of our country and the sacrifices that so many have made for it. When these proud Americans live in communities controlled by residential associations, it’s important that they and their boards are familiar with the laws which govern how to display the flag.

The U.S. flag is traditionally flown from dawn to dusk so that it is always illuminated by the sun. It is allowed to be flown at night under certain guidelines, however. Since it must always be illuminated during the day, the same holds true for the night. A floodlight or spotlight must be shown on the flag.

However, there is a barrage of cheap flagpole lightings being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported stuff is cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flagpole lightings made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc specialized in flags and flagpole lightings offered a special edition of solar powered flagpole lightings to provide innovative solutions for individual projects.
