The Truth About How Many Americans Are Unemployed

By Scott Myers

The rising cost of living has people working full time jobs and others working more than one job. However, there are so many people who are still unemployed. This is either due to the fact that they cannot work due to personal reasons or the are either under or over the age limit. Statistics show that there are 93 million unemployed Americans in the country, however, this includes various other citizens who do not work. So you might want to consider the following information the next time you ask about how many Americans are unemployed.

There are men and women that make up this number. However it is also made up of babies, school going children, students still at college and university, stay at home mums and dads as well as senior citizens. So while the figure may look huge, in reality it is more like half that amount of people out of work.

When a country refers to unemployed people, it can also refer to those who are working for remote companies outside the country. So while these people would be considered unemployed, they would still be earning an income. Then there are those who do not work for whatever reason and depend on social security grants.

People who cannot work hail from all over the country and this is not just a problem with this country but lots of other countries all over the world. It seems to be turning into more of a global issue and if governments want to resolve it, they must get to the bottom of the problem.

Most people choose to start working only after they have studied. This mean that most of them will start working in their twenties. However there are not enough jobs to accommodate everyone. So while these students are hoping for better paying jobs in the future it may or may not happen that way. The e recession saw many jobs destroyed and the country has never really bounced back after that.

Some women have children decide not to go back to work as they want to be able to take care of their kids. In some cases, men even do this while their wives work. Older people also choose to retire by a certain age and others cannot work due to disabilities and so on.

Unemployment affects everyone, and not just the people who are unemployed. If a father is not working, then children also are affected by it at home. Some couples make a joint decision that one parent will work while the other stays home with the kids and if the working parent earns enough to support the family then it work out fine.

So when it comes to finding and keeping a job it is more complicated than it looks. In many cases, people are willing and able to work but they do not have the opportunity due to a lack of jobs in the country. In other cases, the people looking for work are just nit adequately skilled and do not possess the required experience and training needed for that specific job. In case, they would be under qualified for that job.
