The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Clean Fracking Technology

By Linda Schmidt

Hydraulic fracturing is better known as fracking is a drilling method used for drilling both oil and natural gases from deep underground. Many argue that it is an environmentally friendly and cost-effective method while others see it as a major contribution to contamination in the world due to pollution level release to the atmosphere. The article discusses the advantages and disadvantages of clean fracking technology.

It boosts the economy. Think of it this way, when a country can drill their own oil and natural gases; they are able to save the amount that they would have used in importing. They will also be able to export to other countries and therefore make a fortune. There will be no more dependence on other countries for these products and in return they gain in their GDP and have food security by purchasing more food for the residents.

Carbon gas is one of the major causes of depletion of the ozone layer and global warming. The available oil and gases are enough to sustain a country for a long time to come. People want to save the environment by not depleting it. This is possible once people figure out have to harvest and store energy from the wind and sun.

This is a great source of employment. When an oil field is discovered, the first people to benefit are those immediately surrounding the area. Drilling takes place all the time, and people need to work in shifts. There are other options like driving the tankers among other things. This goes a long way in improving the lives of many families.

Everything on a positive side has some negativity. One of the negative effects of fracking include; it is harmful to both the environment and human beings. As much as there is reduced carbon emission, the tankers transporting the product give off carbon emissions that affect the air. The drilling also causes a lot of noise that disrupts peace in the area.

You may not be aware of this, but drilling requires the use of water. Considering it can be done up to 24 hours a day you can imagine how much water is used up. Seeing as there is a drought spell in some parts of the country, the water used in drilling could be donated to help out the people in these drought-stricken areas.

There is the possibility of water contamination. When drilling a water pipe may accidentally be hit. It may cause for chemicals to go into the water, therefore, causing the disease to the surrounding community. There have also been complaints by homeowners about discovering traces of chemicals in their water pipes which may have led to serious illness.

Considering that this job includes encountering all kinds of chemicals, the workers are likely to fall ill easily. Some companies neglect to enforce safety measures. Some workers also ignore the protective gear. For example, one may neglect to wear gumboots because they are hard to move around in or they just do not feel up to it.
